Overview
The Problem
A craftsman installing windows, electrical systems, or solar panels follows a slow process for every quote: visit the client, take measurements on paper, return to the office, enter everything on the computer, calculate quantities and prices from the price list, generate the PDF and send it by email. Two or three days between site visit and quote. In the meantime, many clients call someone else.
For photovoltaics the problem is more technical: every installation is different. Available roof surface, orientation, shading, family's annual consumption, incentive rates. Manually calculating how many panels are needed, which inverter to size, whether to add storage and with what capacity requires expertise and time. Calculation errors lead to over- or under-sized systems.
The Solution
I developed a mobile app that handles the entire process from site visit to signed quote. On site, the craftsman enters measurements directly in the app, selects materials from the catalog updated with current prices, and the app automatically calculates the required quantities and total. The professional PDF is generated and sent to the client while you're still there.
For photovoltaics I built a specific calculation engine: enter the available roof surface and the client's annual consumption, and the algorithm calculates the optimal configuration considering orientation, shading, and current tax incentives. The output is a detailed quote ready to sign.
The app also integrates team management: employees clock in and out directly from the app with GPS verification that they're at the correct job site. Hours are automatically attributed to each job. The owner sees in real-time who is working where, the hourly cost per job, and pending vacation requests.
The Result
Quotes that took 2-3 days are delivered in 10 minutes while the client is still present. The conversion rate from quote to confirmed job increased by 40%: the client gets an immediate answer and has no time to look for alternatives. Calculation errors on solar quotes are eliminated.
